Celebration of the Teej Festival with the Nepalese community of Barcelona. In India, the Teej festival is celebrated in Rajasthan, Andra Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Dedicated to the goddess Párvati, in union with her husband, the holiday is celebrated for marital happiness, the well-being of the husband and children, and the purification of one’s body and soul by performing a fast that ends with a great feast, party with music and dances. In Nepal The Teej is celebrated just before the first day of the Ganesh Chaturthi. Women fast 24 hours nirjala (no water or fruit) for the well-being of their husbands and their married lives. Unmarried women pray for a good husband. And it also ends with a party where they sing and dance.
