The auditorium of the Joan Pelegrí School in Barcelona was the setting for the conference “Bridging Cultures India & Spain,” focused on the cultural relations between India and Spain. The event, hosted by Professor Kandarp Mehta of IESE Business School in Barcelona, began with an impressive Kathak dance performance by Catalan dancer Núria Cabo. With her elegant movements and gestures, she managed to convey emotions and tell stories, adding a touch of magic and spectacle to this classical Indian dance.

Next, the stage burst into color and energy with a performance by the group Dancing Ganesh, directed by Gustavo Corral. This ensemble, made up of artists who fuse various styles of Indian dance, delivered a vibrant and unique experience, capable of transporting the audience through the richness and cultural diversity of the Asian country.

Following the performances, the short film ESPECIAS was presented, directed by Cairo Corrêa, a student in the Master’s in Film Directing program at the Barcelona Film School. Starring Chanakya Rishi Pabbisetty, the short film was supported by the Indian Culture Centre Foundation and the Telugu Association Barcelona. It is currently being screened at the IDEAL International Film Festival in the state of Maharashtra (India), after having been featured at the University Film and Audiovisual Showcase (MUCA) in São Paulo (Brazil).

Subsequently, two round tables took place, moderated by Professor Mehta. The first, titled “Cultural and Economic Relations between India and Spain,” featured Ms. Deepti Golani, businesswoman and expert in international protocol, along with Mr. Alok Lahad and Mr. Paramjeet Singh Kalra, Indian entrepreneurs residing in Catalonia.

The second round table brought together Mr. Inbasekar Sundaramurthi, Consul General of India in Barcelona, and Mr. Sandeep Marwah, founder of Marwah Studios and prominent cultural promoter. As a token of appreciation, both speakers received a gift from the Indian Culture Centre Foundation, presented by its vice president, Marta Marzal. They were also given a copy of the book Kaur’s Worlds, personally presented by its author, Manu Kaur.

The event concluded with remarks from Mr. Robert Masih Nahar, former senator of the Spanish Senate, who thanked all the attendees and speakers for their participation and collaboration in this enriching cultural gathering.
