Last Friday, November 1, the Sagrat Cor Besòs school theater hosted the Diwali Festival, organized by the Telegu Association Barcelona in collaboration with the Indian Culture Centre. The event began with a pooja to the Goddess Laksmi and then the musical performances began by several members of the Telegu association and other groups made up of Indian and Catalan dancers, such as Núria Cabo, director of Espai Kala, the group Dancing Ganesh, directed by Gustavo Corral and the groups directed by Silvia Carreras and Samyukta with their groups of students. Before his performance, the president of the Dancing Ganesh Association, Gustavo Corral, presented his entity’s solidarity calendars to the guests of honor, Senator Mr. Robert Masih Nahar and the Vice Consul of India in Barcelona Mr. Sumodh Sarasan, and Mr. Pawan Kumar, president of the Telegu Association of Barcelona. The solidarity calendar consists of 12 photographs by journalist and photographer José Angel Guzmán. After the musical performances, the little ones were able to enjoy the lighting of sparklers in the school yard and at the end the traditional prasad was delivered with typical Diwali sweets.
