Fashion and handicrafts week of catalan art we inaugrated today at the cultural center of “BORN” at Barcelona. The fashion week organized by handicrafts department of catalan governent and the indian culture center, Barcelona. The theme this year was india, as in this one week event india was the guest country, every year therse is a different guest country to celebrate this handicrafts week.
In the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Joan Aregio, the Secretary of Enterprise and Competitiveness, accompanied by the Director General of Comerç, Muntsa Vilalta, Honorary Consul of India, Mr. Luis Valeriano González and the Senators, Robert Masih Nahar and Bernat Picornell, Ms Marina Falcó, General Director of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Catalonia, Mr Josep Lluis Alay, Commissioner of Relacions Internacionals of the Diputació de Barcelona and Ven. Thubten Wangchen, director of the Tibet House of Barcelona.
In the welcome stall for India as the guest country, members of the Indian Culture Center, organized various activities that will take place during the four days of the exhibition of crafts (from June 8 to 11). The guests of honor were received with the typical garlands of flowers and they lit the traditional lamp.
Then, after a few words from the guests, the traditional dance “kathak” performed by the famous dancer from India, Pragati Anad. The event ended with the performance of the sticks dance performed by Bastoners group of Sant Cugat and the Indian Culture Center Dandiya Group.
