Karva Chauth held at the Indian Culture Center Foundation, with the participation of women from the entity’s Women’s Commission. Karva Chauth is a Hindu festival celebrated mainly in North India such as Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. Married women fast from sunrise to sunset to pray for the longevity and prosperity of their husbands. The ritual includes singing, dancing and offerings to the gods. At nightfall, one waits for the moon to appear and looks through a sieve before breaking the fast. Overall, Karva Chauth has become a global celebration that unites Indian communities around the world, maintaining its cultural essence while adapting to new environments and traditions.
