Pravasi Bharatiya Divas was held at the Indian Consulate in Barcelona, an event that recognizes the contribution of the Indian diaspora abroad. This date, January 9, coincides with Mahatma Gandhi’s return to India from South Africa in 1915, a key moment in the country’s history. Since 2003, the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, the highest award for Indians abroad, has been awarded in India. In 2025, Senator Robert Masih Nahar received this recognition from the President of India, Mrs. Draupadi Murmu, for his outstanding work for the benefit of the Indian community in Spain, becoming the first person to obtain this high honor in our country. Mr. Masih Nahar participated as a guest of honor in the event chaired by the Consul General, Mr. Inbasekar Sundaramurthi, which had the contribution of Mrs. Deepti Golani and Mr. Alok Lahad as representatives of the Catalan Indian diaspora.
